Work History

My background runs along two tracks that have started to merge. The first is technical: building automation, access control systems, and data infrastructure as a systems and cloud engineer. The second is academic and editorial: graduate work in psychology and independent writing on accessibility, technology, and policy. The Honking Goose is where those tracks meet. It is the work I am most invested in right now, and the role that best reflects where I am headed.

Applied Researcher—Founder & Editor (The Honking Goose December 2025 to Present)

Founded and operate an independent publication focused on the intersection of psychology, accessibility, technology, and everyday AI adoption. Produce research-informed, long-form writing that makes Microsoft Copilot and related AI tools approachable and practical for writers, students, researchers, knowledge workers, and individuals navigating complex information environments.

Work from the combined perspective of a researcher, technologist, and accessibility advocate—translating technical, academic, and policy concepts into clear, actionable guidance for a general audience. Emphasize AI, particularly Copilot, as a practical support system for thinking, writing, organizing, learning, productivity, and accessibility-centered problem solving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Publish accessible, research-informed writing on Microsoft Copilot, AI literacy, assistive technology, digital accessibility, psychology, and technology policy.
  • Advocate for practical, real-world uses of Copilot and AI tools across writing support, brainstorming, research workflows, information organization, productivity planning, and accessibility.
  • Translate complex technical, academic, and policy material into long-form essays, analytical commentary, and opinion pieces for non-specialist readers.
  • Conduct independent research spanning industrial/organizational psychology, work and organizational behavior, assistive technology, digital accessibility standards, AI systems, and emerging technology policy.
  • Develop and manage editorial strategy, including content planning, drafting, editing, and publishing workflows, as well as long-term audience and publication growth.
  • Maintain and optimize the WordPress platform end-to-end, including theme configuration, plugin management, accessibility compliance, site performance, and publishing operations.
  • Build and execute editorial calendars that balance timely commentary on AI and technology with deeper analysis of adoption, human-centered design, and accessibility.
  • Apply accessibility-first and inclusive design principles to ensure content is usable, readable, and equitable across diverse audiences.
Systems Engineer (Southeast US Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP) August 2022 to July 2023)

Data Analysis Infrastructure: Engineered an event management database in Python and MySQL with automated data retrieval and report generation, reducing manual reporting overhead.
Scripting & Automation: Built Python automation to configure software policies across Organizational Units, tailoring distinct settings to match each OU’s structure.
Cloud Management: Maintained internal application reliability across Cloudflare and DigitalOcean, using Python-based automation for database integrity checks and continuous deployment workflows.

Cloud Systems Engineer (Insight Global May 2022 to August 2022)

Python-Based Access Control: Engineered a Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB) system in Python, defining permission logic and policy rules that enabled fine-grained control over company network assets and ensured secure, organized data flow.

Accessible Design: Built the Python backend for a 5-page user interface focused on usability, enabling non-technical staff to interact with complex security data through a clearer, more accessible workflow.

Team Dynamics & Agile: Contributed to high-performing team processes (Scrum, sprint planning, retrospectives), aligning technical execution with stakeholder objectives and supporting long-term project planning.
